9 Interesting Ways To Wear a Red Leather Jacket This Season

Fall is finally here! This has made me reassess my wardrobe, especially as the days get colder.

As much as I’m tempted to fall back on neutrals like black and grey, I have noticed people wearing a rather unusual colour for this season. Red!

That means I don’t have to give up colour this season. Yay! And I love colours. And it looks super beautiful when it’s a red leather jacket.

I got one and have been rocking it. You won’t believe the compliments I get.

If you have a red leather jacket in your wardrobe or are considering getting one but don’t know how to style it, you’re in the right place.

1. Cherry Red Leather Jacket with Everyday Basics

Thinking of wearing your red jacket while running errands but are worried it looks too flashy? Don’t worry. There are simple ways to rock it for everyday wear.

Pair a bright cherry-red jacket with a white tee, straight-leg jeans and white sneakers. The white and denim will make the red pop. Prefer something neutral? Swap the white for an oatmeal or light grey tee.

2. Wine Red Leather Jacket

A wine red leather jacket with charcoal tailored trousers looks polished when paired with an ivory shell and black ankle boots.

The deeper shade makes it look sophisticated for evening plans. Complete the look with a slim belt and black top-handle bag.

3. Tomato Red Jacket + Neutrals

Layering a tomato red leather jacket over a camel knit top and creamy trousers gives it a chic old-money aesthetic.

To recreate the outfit, start with a camel knit top and camel knit trousers, then add a leather jacket. Add tan loafers to finish.

4. Brick Red Leather Jacket for Fall

This brick red leather jacket perfectly complements your fall outfits. It looks stunning with an olive sweater and dark jeans. Layer on a chunky scarf when it gets chilly.

5) Red Leather Jacket for Daytime Casual Outfit

Have errands to run or brunch to attend? Your go-to should be a red leather jacket layered over a cream sweater, navy wide-leg chinos and flat loafers. The jacket brightens the look, especially on fall days.

Heading to a casual office? Wearing this jacket over a blue button-down shirt and a grey midi skirt can elevate your casual office outfit. Finish with closed-toe ballet flats. Dress codes vary, so this works best in chill workplaces.

6) Red Leather Jacket Dinner Outfit

This is where I love my red leather jacket the most. When I want to get dressed quickly,

I layer the jacket over a black slip dress and pair heels. Then I accessorise with small earrings and a bracelet. It also works with a sleek jumpsuit too. Stick to simple accessories so that nothing clashes with the red.

7) All-Black Outfit

The red leather jacket can be the best piece to add that pop to your all-black look. For example, a black bodysuit, black skinny jeans and black boots paired with a cherry red jacket is perfect for a night out. But let the red jacket be the only colour.

8) Leather Jacket + Dress

Keep your outfit edgy by throwing on a short red jacket with a midi dress in floral, polka dot or soft denim blue. Just beautiful! Add white sneakers or flat sandals and [unclear] sunglasses to finish off this perfect girly outfit.

9) Comfy Travel Outfit + Red Leather Jacket

Plan on hitting the road? Pair the jacket with a grey matching set, a white tee and comfy sneakers. It looks good and feels cosy too.

How to Choose the Right Leather Jacket

Short and Fitted vs. Long
A short, fitted jacket defines your waist and looks great with high-waisted bottoms. A longer cut gives more coverage and a relaxed shape.
Pick whichever sits comfortably over your usual layers without pulling across the shoulders. Sit down and reach forward when you try it on. If it feels tight, size up.

Details to Look For When Choosing A Leather Jacket

Classic lapels, a slightly worn finish or simple silver hardware make your jacket stand out. Keep the rest of the outfit clean, especially if the jacket has lots of zippers.

Keep the Colour, Simplify the Outfit

Choose a shade you love, then balance it with simple pieces. The easiest three to start with:
Cherry red + white tee + jeans for everyday
Wine red + charcoal trousers for a  polished look
Red + black slip dress for dinner
The red already brings the personality. Comfort and a good fit do the rest.
